Abiko
我孫子
Skip Abiko unless you live in Chiba or have a specific reason: one hour from Tokyo for a lakeside park, a castle ruin and eel. Half a day is enough.
Abiko is a quiet commuter city on Lake Tega in northwestern Chiba, 40–50 minutes from central Tokyo by the JR Joban Line. Its main draw is Teganuma Park, a lakeside green space, and a handful of local eateries. Most travellers have no reason to stop.
