Amersham is two towns on one hill: Old Amersham at the bottom, with a 13th-century church, a small museum and a market square of 16th–19th-century buildings, and Amersham-on-the-Hill at the top, with the station, shops and most of the housing. It sits where London's Metro-land meets the Chiltern Hills, so the real draw is the countryside on foot, not a sightseeing list. Get around
The town is small enough to walk, but Old Amersham sits at the bottom of the hill and Amersham station at the top: allow 20–25 min on foot between them, or take a local bus.
