Three limestone islands off County Galway, 40 minutes by ferry or 10 minutes by air from the mainland. Inis Mór has the big fort and the most beds; Inis Meáin is the quiet one; Inis Oírr is the smallest and easiest day-trip. One night beats a rushed day trip, because the last ferry leaves mid-afternoon and the islands empty out after it.

Trying all three islands in one day means most of it on a boat and in a minibus group.
Limestone pavement is uneven and slippery when wet; wear boots with grip, not trainers.
Mobile coverage is patchy to absent outside Kilronan on Inis Mór.
