Balashikha is the largest city in Moscow Oblast, 6 km from the Moscow ring road and 41 minutes by suburban train from Kursk station. Its sights are two old estates and Europe's only air-defence museum; the town is otherwise a place to sleep cheaply near Moscow. Half a day is enough, one night if you want a slow start.
