Barak Valley is the southern wedge of Assam, culturally Bengali and Sylheti, known for its tea estates, the Bhuban Hills, the ruined Kachari capital of Khaspur and the wetlands of Sribhumi. It is off the main tourist trail — expect few foreign visitors, limited English and basic infrastructure outside Silchar.
