Bardez is the beach-and-party heart of North Goa: a strip of sand from Baga to Chapora, backed by paddy fields and old Portuguese villages. Most visitors stay in one of the coastal villages and use a rented scooter to reach the quieter coves, the Saturday Night Market and the Chapora Fort sunset. The interior holds the Houses of Goa Museum and the Xavier Centre of Historical Research — both worth an hour if you need a break from the sun.
