Brookmans Park is a Green Belt dormitory village in Hertfordshire, about 14 miles north of London, built up around a railway station that opened in 1926. It has no hotels and few sights: a mock-medieval arch, a wildlife wood and a village green with shops and pubs. Treat it as a short stop on the Great Northern line between London and Hatfield, not a destination in its own right.

Get around

Walk. The station is on the east edge; head east into the village centre at Bradmore Green, a few minutes on foot. Buses and trains cover the wider area; a car helps for the country lanes and outlying pubs.
