The coast runs about 380 km north to south and splits at Cape Emine, where the Balkan Mountains reach the sea. North of it: Varna, Golden Sands, Balchik, and the cliff camping at Kamen Bryag. South: Burgas, Nesebar, Sunny Beach, Sozopol, then the quieter villages down to Rezovo on the Turkish border. Buses link the whole line; the Varna–Burgas train runs inland via Karnobat and is only useful between the two ends. Two bases, not five, is the workable plan.

Night sequences

3 nights: Varna 3: city, Balchik day trip, Kamen Bryag if you have a car
5 nights: Varna 2 + Burgas or Sozopol 3, Nesebar and Pomorie as day trips
7 nights: Varna 2 + Sunny Beach or Nesebar 2 + Sozopol 3, buses between all

Beaches are free and public, but some resort strips and beach bars charge for sunbeds and umbrellas — ask the price first.
Some coastal areas are restricted (military or private) without clear signs; if in doubt, turn back.
English is common in resorts and cities, less so in small villages — have place names written in Cyrillic.

Bags between cities

Luggage storage at Varna and Burgas bus and rail stations is the practical option; hotels in resorts usually hold bags on checkout day. There is no courier network along the coast.

Coast: Sea swimming is roughly June to September; July and August are the busiest and priciest. May and September give warm days with fewer people. Winter resorts close; many beach businesses shut from October.

Book beds for July–August weeks ahead. The sea is calm and shallow on most beaches; there is little surf.
