Central India is Madhya Pradesh plus Chhattisgarh, landlocked and spread over the Deccan plateau. Sights sit 100–350 km apart, so the trip is a chain of two-night stops on the rail network, not a single base. Fly into Bhopal, Indore or Raipur; book trains early; keep October to March for the plains and the parks.
