The Daito Islands are a remote pair of coral islands 360 km east of Okinawa, known for a blend of Okinawan and Tokyo culture. Minamidaito has more services and flights; Kitadaito is smaller and quieter. The inter-island flight (13 km, 6 min) is Japan's shortest but may be discontinued — check current status. Most visitors spend 2–3 days on one island.
