Dalmatia is a 400 km strip of coast with three airports and one main highway. Most travellers should sleep in Split and Dubrovnik and treat the islands, Šibenik and Makarska as day-trips or one-night add-ons. Ferries, not cars, connect the islands; buses cover the mainland coast.
