- Buses from Vologda to Kirillov turn off the R-5 about 4 km before Ferapontovo, at a forest stop with no facilities — you walk or hitch the rest. Tell the driver you want Ferapontovo.
- Direct buses to Ferapontovo are rare: some run only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Check the timetable before you go.
- No shops or ATMs in the village — bring cash and food from Vologda.
- Mobile reception may be patchy near the monastery.
