Loudoun splits in two. The east is suburbs and Dulles Airport (IAD) — Ashburn, Sterling, business hotels, the Silver Line. The west is farmland, small towns and about thirty wineries and tasting rooms, and it needs a car. Sleep in Leesburg for the county seat and the outlet mall, in Middleburg for the wine-and-horse country, or near IAD for one night before an early flight. Two nights covers the west; one night is enough if you only transit the airport.

Winery tasting rooms cluster on two-lane roads with no pavement and no lighting; if you taste, book a driver or a rideshare for the return.
