Monrovia
Monrovia is a two-night base: arrange the airport pickup before you fly, keep the history stops in the morning, and treat every evening move as a car ride — the airport is 1–2.5 hours away and the roads are not for night driving.
Monrovia is spread along a peninsula, with few pavements, heavy traffic and limited tourist infrastructure. The trips that go wrong are the ones that land at night with no pickup, carry too little cash in US dollars, or add a rainy-season road trip. Get around
A private car with a driver arranged by your hotel is the only recommended way to move between clusters. Walk only inside a cluster and only by day. Shared taxis and motorbike taxis are cheap but unsafe for visitors.

Language
English is universal, but Liberian English (Kolokwa) has its own sounds and phrases that take a day or two to tune into. Sixteen indigenous languages are spoken, and Kpelle is the largest.
