The south coast is Montenegro's long, low, warm strip: Bar, Sutomore, Utjeha and Ulcinj, with the Adriatic on one side and the Rumija range behind. It is cheaper and flatter than the Bay of Kotor, the season is longer, and Ulcinj's long sand beach is the reason most people come. Sleep in Bar for transport and the old town, in Ulcinj for beach and Albanian-Montenegrin food. Two or three nights is enough unless you are here purely for the sand.

4 nights: Add a Lake Skadar or Rumija day and a slow beach day at Velika Plaža

August on Velika Plaža and Sutomore is peak: book beds and parking ahead, and expect 30–60 min delays on the coast road.
Sea urchins sit on some rocky stretches near Bar and Utjeha; swim shoes help.
Stari Bar is uphill from the modern town — a taxi or a steep 20–30 min walk, not a stroll with luggage.
