Muang Ngeun
Pass through for the border crossing or a quiet night between Thailand and Laos: half a day is enough unless you want to explore the Tai Lue villages.
Muang Ngeun is a string of Tai Lue villages along the road near the Thai border at Ban Huay Kon. Most travellers stop here only to cross the border or to break the journey between Pakbeng and Muang Xay. The town has a few temples, rice-field views and a basic guesthouse, but no major sights. Half a day covers the walkable area; one night is the maximum you'd want to stay.
