PEI is small — 224 km tip to tip — but public transport barely leaves Charlottetown, so a car decides your trip. Three nights covers red-sand beaches, the Anne of Green Gables sites at Cavendish, one lobster supper and Charlottetown's old town. Add nights only if you want golf, cycling the Confederation Trail or the eastern points.

July–August daytime highs average about 23 °C (73 °F), occasionally above 30 °C (86 °F); January–February highs average about −3 °C (27 °F). Sea ice delays spring warmth until late April or early May; autumn storms increase.

July and August are the only reliably warm months, and also the peak for cottages and lobster suppers — book beds and dinner sittings weeks ahead.
