Three mistakes to avoid
- Unlicensed taxis waiting outside hotels and malls that quote a flat fare well above the app price: use Uber, Careem or the airport's official taxi service.(Scams)

- Cards and phone payments (Mada, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay) work in malls, restaurants and most shops. Keep SAR 100–200 in small notes for taxis, tips and small souq stalls.

- SIM
- Operator counter at the airport or a mall: Passport needed; check the plan and validity.
Etiquette: the top three
- Greetings
- Greet with 'as-salamu alaykum'; handshakes are common between men, and women visitors should wait for a woman or man to offer.
- Dress
- Loose, modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees in public; a light scarf is useful for mosques.
- Prayer times
- Shops and some restaurants pause for prayer; plan around them and do not walk in front of people praying.
