Saxony is two cities 1 h 15 apart by train, plus a sandstone national park and a mountain range within day-trip range of Dresden. Sleep in Dresden for the Baroque centre and Saxon Switzerland, in Leipzig for music, trade-fair history and the fastest ICE links west. Do not try to add Chemnitz or Görlitz to a three-day trip.
