Southwest Angola is a compact region of escarpments, desert coast and colonial towns. Lubango is the only practical base — sleep there and day‑trip the rest. The dry season (May–Oct) gives clear skies and comfortable temperatures.

Driving from Luanda to Lubango by bus takes about 12 h; overnight buses are available but roads have checkpoints and potholes.
ATMs are scarce outside Lubango; carry enough cash for the whole trip.
Yellow‑fever card is checked on arrival; without it you may be denied entry or vaccinated on the spot.
