Carry-on liquids

Type the size of each container in your bag. The tool checks them against the airport security rules of the country you are going through, and tells you what has to go in your checked bag.

Which airport security?

Pick the country of the airport you are going through. The rules belong to that country’s authority, so the answer changes when your connection does.

What are you carrying?

Add every container with liquid, gel, powder or cream in it. Type the size printed on the container — the number on the label, not how much is left inside.

What you can take through

The limit is about the size of the container, not how much is left in it. A half-empty 200 ml bottle is still a 200 ml bottle.

Nothing here has to be checked — but some sizes are still missing.

1 item still needs a size before it can be checked.

The rule in United States (TSA)

  • Each container can be up to 100 ml.
  • You may carry one bag of liquids per passenger: one clear, resealable bag, no larger than 1 quart (about 1 litre / A4 size).

Worth knowing

  • Liquid medication is not limited to 100 ml — take it out of your bag and show it to the officer.
  • Baby food, formula and breast milk are allowed over 100 ml if you are travelling with a child under two.
