Etiquette: the top three
- Dress
- Shoulders and knees covered for the Museums and the Basilica; guards refuse entry. Sleeveless tops, short shorts and short skirts fail.
- Silence
- Silence is asked for in the Sistine Chapel and in the Basilica during services; guards say "silenzio" and it is enforced.
- Photography
- No photos in the Sistine Chapel. Flashes are banned in most galleries. Photograph the Swiss Guards from the side without blocking the gate.
