Cache Creek
Plan one night, not a stay: Cache Creek is a highway junction with motels, fuel and two historic sites. Two nights only if you camp or ride the rail trail.
Cache Creek is a town of under 1,000 people at the meeting of Highway 1 and Highway 97 in British Columbia's Thompson-Nicola region, about 45 minutes from Kamloops by car. It is a fuel-and-bed stop on the way to the Cariboo, Prince George or the Okanagan, with two worthwhile stops nearby: Historic Hat Creek and the Ashcroft Manor teahouse. Most travellers pass through in an afternoon; one night covers it.

About Cache Creek
Cache Creek is a small community in British Columbia's Thompson-Nicola region, with fewer than 1,000 residents recorded in 2016. It sits where Highway 1 meets Highway 97, the road running north to Prince George. Kamloops, the nearest city, lies roughly 45 minutes to the east. The town itself amounts to little more than some gas stations and restaurants, and it serves as a starting point for trips into the Cariboo region.
The name is thought to come from a buried depot of supply and trade goods kept by fur traders of the Hudson's Bay Company or its rival, the North West Company. Traffic once made the town extremely busy, but the Coquihalla Highway later drew much of it away by offering a shorter route between Hope and Kamloops through Merritt.

- Historic Hat Creek — It preserves one of the few stretches of the original Cariboo Wagon Road open to the public, with buildings standing as they did in 1901 and some dating to 1860.
- Ashcroft Manor Ranch — This historic ranch, 11 km south of town, has its manor house converted into a teahouse.
- Juniper Beach Provincial Park — The 260-ha park protects desert landscape with sagebrush, prickly pear cactus and juniper, and gives access to the Thompson River.
- Marble Canyon Provincial Park — This 355-ha park lies between two small lakes in the Pavilion Mountain Range, and its white limestone canyon slopes are a rare formation in the province.

The town itself is small enough to walk in 15–20 minutes. Everything outside it — Hat Creek, Ashcroft, the parks — needs a private car. BC Transit runs a Clinton–Ashcroft route through Cache Creek twice a week (Wed and Fri), and Health Connections trips to Kamloops three days a week, reserved two business days ahead.
