Cagayancillo

Skip unless you are a diver booked on a Tubbataha liveaboard: the island has one fort and no tourist infrastructure. 0 nights.

Cagayancillo is a remote municipality of 31 islands in the Sulu Sea, closer to Negros than to mainland Palawan. Its only sight is the Spanish-era Cagayancillo Fort, and there are no hotels, restaurants or regular ferries. Almost all visitors are liveaboard divers heading to Tubbataha Reef, which is 30 km away. For anyone else, the effort to get here far outweighs what you can do.

  • No ATMs, no shops, no medical facilities. Bring all cash, food, water and any medication.
  • Mobile signal is weak or absent. Download offline maps and inform someone of your plans.
  • The fort is overgrown and not maintained; enter at your own risk.
