Everything the tour says, in order. Read it instead of listening if you prefer.

  1. Before you start

Welcome to the Los Caobos & Museo de Bellas Artes audio walk in Caracas. 3 stops: Museo de Bellas Artes, Parque Los Caobos and Teleférico Warairarepano (Ávila cable car). Museum morning: the fine-arts museum beside Parque Los Caobos, reached by car and left by car.

Parque Los Caobos and the museum precinct next to Plaza Venezuela. Underfoot: paved paths; slope: flat; shade: medium.

Caracas is a city best understood in two layers at once: a mountain-valley capital with real history, real food and real museums, and a city that has been through hyperinflation, mass emigration and a security crisis that reshaped how everyone — residents and visitors alike — moves through it.

Before you start: Do not linger in the park; go inside the museum and call the driver from there. Keep your eyes on the street, and pause the audio before you cross a road.

  2. 1. Museo de Bellas Artes

Museo de Bellas Artes de Caracas

Stop 1 of 3: Museo de Bellas Artes. Locally, Museo de Bellas Artes de Caracas. Arrival point: Driver to the museum entrance.

The main fine-arts museum, beside Parque Los Caobos: go at opening, stay in the building and call the driver from inside.

Bags may be checked at the entrance. Quietest at opening; school groups late morning. Shoes on.

Walk:Next, stop 2: Parque Los Caobos. It's about 5 minutes on foot. The tour waits here. Tap I've arrived when you get there.

  3. 2. Parque Los Caobos

Stop 2 of 3: Parque Los Caobos. Arrival point: Driver drops at the museum forecourt.

A shaded mahogany-tree park between the fine-arts museum and the natural-science museum: a 20–30 minute walk between the two, in daylight, with your driver waiting nearby rather than parked out of sight.

Downtown, the twin Parque Central towers (completed in the 1970s) were, for a period, among the tallest buildings in Latin America, and they still dominate the skyline near the historic centre.

Keep phones and cameras out of sight once you leave the museum forecourt; do not linger after your driver has arrived. Calm on weekday mornings; busier with families on Sunday.

Walk:Next, stop 3: Teleférico Warairarepano (Ávila cable car). We have no walking time for this leg yet, so check your map. The tour waits here. Tap I've arrived when you get there.

  4. 3. Teleférico Warairarepano (Ávila cable car)

    Teleférico de Caracas

Stop 3 of 3: Teleférico Warairarepano (Ávila cable car). Locally, Teleférico de Caracas. Arrival point: Driver to the lower station forecourt only; do not wait outside on the street.

The cable car up El Ávila (Waraira Repano) from the Maripérez / San Bernardino lower station: go only as a booked outing with a hotel-arranged driver and guide, on a clear morning, and do not walk the surrounding streets on your own before or after.

The Teleférico, the cable car linking the Maripérez / San Bernardino area to the summit ridge at Pico El Ávila, first opened in 1956 and has been rebuilt and reopened more than once since, most recently after a period of closure. But it is worth knowing this layer exists: the skyline you see from a hotel window or the Ávila cable car is not generic Latin American sprawl, it is a specific, ambitious mid-century architectural project, still visibly there under everything that has happened since.

Book only through your hotel or a named operator; do not arrange the trip or a guide on the street. Cloud usually builds by early afternoon; go up as early as the operator allows.

That's the end of the Los Caobos & Museo de Bellas Artes walk. To carry on, Casco Histórico & Plaza Bolívar is about 20 minutes away (car west). To carry on, Altamira & Los Palos Grandes is about 25 minutes away (car east).
