Carthage is a small Route 66 town in southwest Missouri, known for its 1894 Carthage-stone courthouse, Civil War history, the restored Boots Court motel and a drive-in cinema. Two to four hours covers the main sights; stay overnight if you want to catch a drive-in film. There is no public mass transit, so plan to drive.
