What is worth your time in Española.

• Plaza de Española — A small arts and culture complex with a replica church, a gallery selling local artists' work and the Bond House Museum in a turn-of-the-century home.
• Santa Cruz de la Cañada — One of the oldest Catholic parishes in New Mexico, on the plaza of a village older than Española by more than two centuries.
• Puye Cliff Dwellings — Ruins of an ancient village on a mesa plus cave dwellings cut into the cliff, on the Santa Clara Pueblo reservation and reachable by guided tour only.
• New Mexico Wildlife Center — A place to see native animals such as rattlesnakes and bald eagles, some of them being rehabilitated.
• Santa Clara and Ohkay Owingeh Pueblos — The two Pueblo communities bordering town are sources of arts and crafts, with Santa Clara noted for fine black and red pottery.

• El Paragua — Described as the best place in town for New Mexican cuisine, such as stuffed sopaipillas with red or green chile, with drawings by cartoonist Bill Mauldin on the walls.

• Saints and Sinners — A local liquor store known for its neon sign.

• The town is predominately Hispanic.
• Española calls itself the "Lowrider Capital of the World," and lowriders may be seen cruising the main drag.
• Pueblo arts and crafts are part of the surrounding communities; Ohkay Owingeh runs a cooperative where artists can be seen at work.
