About Kennett Square
Kennett Square is a small suburban town in Chester County, Pennsylvania, roughly 50 miles west of Philadelphia. Around 6,200 people lived there in 2019. The town is known for growing mushrooms, and its centre is compact enough to cross on foot. Most other attractions lie within a short drive, so a car helps for longer trips. SEPTA's Paoli/Thorndale Regional Rail Line, via Downingtown and Exton, links the area to Philadelphia, and Philadelphia International Airport is the nearest air gateway.
Visitors come for the gardens at Longwood, the Underground Railroad learning centre and the September Mushroom Festival. Anson B. Nixon Park covers 82 acres and holds trails, courts, ponds and picnic pavilions. State Street, the main street, is lined with small independent shops.
