Riding a scooter at sundown is dangerous due to bugs and poor road lighting; avoid it.
Drunk driving is common and deadly; use a songthaew or taxi at night.
During Full Moon Party, theft from luggage on Khao San Road buses is frequent; keep valuables on your person.
Some scooter rental shops overcharge for scratches; photograph the bike before riding and note damage on the contract.
