Luzon is the Philippines' biggest island and holds most of the country's people, its capital and its main gateway airport. It is not one destination: Metro Manila is a dense city region, the Cordilleras are cool mountain country, Ilocos is heritage coast, Bicol is volcanoes and spicy food. Pick one or two clusters and fly or bus between them rather than trying to loop the whole island.

- Dry season roughly Dec–May; the hottest stretch is March–May. June–Oct brings typhoons and afternoon downpours.
- Cordilleras and Baguio
- Cooler than Manila because of the elevation; rain and landslides Jun–Oct.
- Bicol and the east coast
- The Pacific side is wet most of the year and typhoons land here first.
Dec–May is the safest window for the whole island. If you go Jun–Nov, keep one spare day per ferry or mountain leg.
