San Luis Obispo County sits halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles on Highway 101, with a wine region inland at Paso Robles and a chain of small beach towns on the coast. Two nights is a drive-through; three to four nights lets you do wine one day and the coast the next. A car is the practical default — buses run but thin out at night and on weekends.
