Spend one night in Bokonbayevo as a rest stop between Bishkek and Karakol; 5‑6 hr bus ride from Bishkek, walk or taxi around town.
Bokonbayevo is a small lakeside village on the southern shore of Issyk Kul, mainly used as a sleep‑over point for travelers heading east. Its sights are limited but include the Kan Dobo ruins, eagle‑hunting shows and horse‑riding tours.
