Dahuk
Spend 1–2 days in Dahuk to see the bazaar, waterfalls and Dream City; then head to Erbil or the Kurdish mountains.
Dahuk is a Kurdish city of ~250,000 people in Iraqi Kurdistan, set by mountains and the Tigris. Its main attractions are the bazaar, Dream City amusement park, the dam and waterfalls, plus a few museums and churches. The city is relatively safe for tourists, but checkpoints and occasional ID checks are routine.
