Sultan Eshkashimسلطان اشکاشم
A half-day border-market stop, not a base: cross from Tajikistan for the bazaar and textiles, then return or head into the Wakhan Corridor.
Sultan Eshkashim is a small market town on the Afghan side of the Panj River, opposite Ishkashim in Tajikistan. Its main draw is the bazaar — a lively, recently refurbished strip where locals trade textiles, hardware and scarves. Most travellers come on a day trip from Tajikistan or use it as the entry point for the Wakhan Corridor. One night is enough if you need to arrange onward transport.
