Getting across
- Minibus Stung Treng or Kratie → Don Det / Don Khone (4,000 Islands), about 2–4 h including the border.
- Buses Pakse → Phnom Penh or Siem Reap run through here (long days; check).
Scams and traps
- Long-standing extra 'stamp fees' of a few dollars on both sides: a receipt request sometimes helps, sometimes not.
- Minibus companies swapping you into overcrowded vans after the border.
Tips
- Carry small US dollar notes and some kip.
- No ATM at the post: get cash in Stung Treng or Pakse.
