Visayas is the middle of the Philippines: a cluster of islands with beaches, diving, Spanish-era towns, and the country's biggest festivals. Cebu City is the transport hub; most travellers sleep in Cebu, Bohol, or one of the smaller islands and move by ferry or short flights. The region is best in the dry season (Dec–May), and typhoons are a real risk from June to November.
